Day two...Arghhhh!

Ok, I was right, I want to leave!!!! I can't stand the heat or congestion or traffic any longer! After my entry yesterday we visited Siam Square to go shopping in the evening, and it was surprisingly a lot more bearable than I had expected...

We used the Skytrain, which is new and modern, and its a relief from using tuk tuks or taxis, purely because its away from the streets and the pollution.
A note to any smokers who visit though- be careful where you light up. We were on the skytrain walkways and were smoking and got caught by a police officer, unaware that it was illegal to smoke there, and got fined 2,000B each. We are both still very annoyed with ourselves but hey, it's the law- and we won't do it again!
We returned to Siam square again today, as we did not have long last night and it was quite a successful day. Although many of the shops in the area are European imports and not that cheap, the department stores are cheaper for just about everything. My brother picked up a watch for about 20 GBP, and I got one for about 18 GBP. We were recommended by one of many friendly locals that we met to visit the Manhattan Factory- not unlike the Venus factory we went to yesterday. I was having a problem getting trousers to fit (Thai girls are all so short and tiny!!!) so I ordered some to made to fit by hand for and 20 GBP each. I also picked up a digital camera for around 90 GBP at the Panthip Plaza- so all in all a good day.
But, now that the shopping has been done, we are very keen to escape this place! It loses it's original charm after two days. Tonight me and Russell may venture over to Th Khao San Rd (as we are staying at the Asia Hotel) as this is where a lot of the bars and clubs are. We haven't decided if we can face it yet but I'm sure it will be an eye opener!
