Michael Huxley

I am a veteran backpacker and world traveler and I am passionate about backpacking. Despite over a decade of backpacking around the world I still find myself with constant wanderlust and have well over thirty countries under my belt.

I am an author and travel writer, and the founder and editor of bemusedbackpacker,com. I have published numerous books on travel and taking your gap year as well as other subjects. For my day job I am also a qualified and registered charge nurse with an interest in emergency and travel medicine as well as health and fitness.

I have put my skill set to good use in my travels, volunteering as an expedition medic on various trekking expeditions in jungle, mountain and desert terrains, as well as volunteering for various community health projects in numerous countries. I have also volunteered my time in a variety of conservation and animal welfare projects and spent a short time teaching English abroad.
