more berlin......

am actually adjusting much more to the place. Iīve been here only about 5 days but that goes a long way. I am meeting many people so itīs nice that people actually want to socialize, very touching. When I came here two years ago I was here for such a short time that I couldnīt really absorb anything. I did meet a couple people here whom I now regret not getting to know better.
But I have met people now. I went to dinner with the guy hosting me and an Australian girl, very nice. The Egyptian museum and a meditation center......it was actually pretty overwhelming, emotionally. The E museum has all these ancient religious artifacts from the old period, which I guess, yeah, are stolen pretty much, but then again itīs here for me to see. Definitely makes me want to go to Egypt......?????

So you get very different stories here about travel.....people here will say, Indonesia or Jordan is a beautiful country. Back home, they say, thereīs terrorism (my dad) there are terrorists under the bed, there are kidnappers and robbers and rapists and youīre lucky to get out alive.........who is right????
I mean my parents watch Fox News and believe everything they see.....I canīt convince them otherwise. I personally have been at events that I later saw completely misrepresented later in the news, books and papers, but whatever, itīs too late, itīs already spread. And my mother is a former journalist.
I feel somewhat guilty about my family but I suppose theyīll understand one of these days why I left the country. Because I couldnīt stand it any longer. Now, with this current admin, what do I have to look forward to? Dad is telling me I need a job then he votes for this jerk who will seriously threaten any job security I may have, I mean, I can have no protection against sexual harassment, unfair firing, wage discrepancy, unemployment, tax breaks......I mean I hear the arguments of people who vote R, but I still canīt absorb it. They think what they do and I think what I do.
But I needed to talk to people on the other side of the world, or somewhere else. And I mean really go there, not just carry on conversations online. So, Germany is about 80 percent liberal, so Iīm told. There are problems here, sure, but rents are low, food is inexpensive, thereīs a real culture here......so people have mostly some kind of health care, some kind of unemployment (far more than us).....well, Iīd have to be here longer.
So Iīm adjusting to Berlin, and now I donīt want to leave. Maybe I wonīt.
